This concept prompted Bill Grayson, founder of the Eskimo Ice Corporation, to design an icemaker with the ability to freeze fresh water and create crushed ice onboard a vessel. Applying his commercial refrigeration and marine expertise, the resulting Eskimo Ice 600 self-contained unit was created in 1988.
In April 2006, Bill Grayson decided to sell his company to Dometic Environmental Corpororation. Dometic is based in Pompano Beach, Florida and will continue to build to the high standards set by Eskimo's many years of production.
Ice is produced and supplied in a steady and continuous stream, pumped from the engine compartment to nearly any desired location; fish box, drink box or coolers.These easy to install units, designed to be mounted below deck, protected from salt spray, can push up to 600 pounds of ice a day to lengths of 35 feet.
Today, thousands of ice machines later, the Eskimo Ice 600 self-contained unit is being utilized by major sportfish boat manufacturers everywhere. In addition, Dometic now offers a new Eskimo Ice remote system for use when space is a premium offering an installation flexibility not previously available.
